Highlands Connect to launch in November

On the 12th November, the Southern Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SHCCI) and Regional Development Australia Southern Inland (RDASI) are launching the very first Highlands Connect in Mittagong.

Monthly connect events are currently held across the Southern Inland region, including in Jindabyne and Goulburn. They are networking events organised by business for business. The informal catchups allow businesses to engage with each other, discuss potential collaborations, speak to their local council or state and federal government representatives or simply ask questions.

At connect meetings, invited local business owners speak about a business opportunity or challenge and Government agencies provide relevant updates in short, up to 3-minute presentations. The informal presentations are designed to share opportunities and challenges, the need for collaboration and how to find advice and assistance. Government representatives will be on hand to make announcements and take questions.

The inaugural Highlands Connect will be held on Thursday 12th November from 5.30-7pm at Mittagong RSL. A number of business pitches are already lined up, including from life coach, Georgia Bamber, John Guest from the Fold and Rhonda Lawrie from the Office of Regional NSW. After the pitches, networking with food and drinks will follow.

CEO of RDASI Carisa Wells is also on the board of the SHCCI and is delighted at the response of the local business community to this event.

“These events are designed to bring the local business community together and encourage more collaboration. Registrations have been really strong already. I think businesses are truly ready to get back out there and start networking again.”

Steve Horton, President of the SHCCI, expressed his excitement at being a part of the unique networking event.

“Highlands Connect is all about networking, with short, sharp pitches from local businesses and government. It’s a chance every month for businesses to come together, catch up, stay on top of relevant updates and find ways to collaborate and work with other businesses.”

Highlands Connect will be held monthly. The event will also be live-streamed via the SHCCI Facebook page.

Highlands Connect is an initiative of RDA Southern Inland and the Southern Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
