Regional Development Australia Southern Inland (RDA Southern Inland) today congratulated the Yass Early Childhood Centre Association (YECCA) on it successful funding bid to progress the extension of the Yass Early Childcare Centre.
RDA Southern Inland supported the application for funding through the Federal Government’s National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF), Round Three. Successful applicants were announced recently and included the Stage 2 extension of the childcare centre. The YECCA application was one of 12 applications from across the Southern Inland region supported by RDA Southern Inland.
“I congratulate YECCA for the hard work that has gone into progressing the extension of the Yass Early Childcare Centre which will assist Yass families to access not only affordable childcare but also occupational therapy support and services which are currently not available in Yass,” RDA Southern Inland Chair, Mr Mark Schweikert said.
“This is an example of how much needed rural services grow under the drive of highly focused and hardworking community associations like YECCA. It also highlights the focus of the Australian Government through the NSRF, on building strong and responsive regions.”
YECCA received $195,500 through the NSRF. The extension will allow YECCA to provide an additional 23 childcare and preschool places to meet the growing demand from the Yass Community, plus a purpose built space for underserviced families requiring the support from Goulburn’s My Direction Team. The My Direction Team provide early intervention, resources, therapy and support for children with additional needs.
A total of 67 projects to the value of $126.5 million were approved for funding under the NSRF Round Three, with 479 applications received.
Round Three was the final round of the NSRF, with the Australian Government announcing a re-focus of the billion dollar Fund on regional, rural and remote Australia. The NSRF will be replaced by the Building Better Regions Fund, with new eligibility ensuring that smaller projects in rural areas will not have to compete with major capital city projects for funding.
