Regional Development Australia Southern Inland (RDA Southern Inland) are hosting a Discovering Resilience webinar on the 11th March from 6-7pm.

“The last few years in regional NSW have been really tough. Building Resilience to face future catastrophic events is imperative right now,” said RDA Southern Inland CEO, Carisa Wells.`

Hugh van Cuylenburg, founder of The Resilience Project, will share the experiences he has had with elite sporting teams and individuals and combine them with practical strategies to improve your wellbeing.

The Resilience Project, launched in 2013, explores evidence-based approaches to building resilience, in order to develop and sustain positive mental health.

The presentation will outline strategies of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness and discuss simple ways you can practice these in your daily life, including a simple trick to train your mind to focus on the positives.

Hugh, a former teacher, spent 12 months in north India, volunteering at an underprivileged school. This is where Hugh discovered resilience and gratitude amongst his students. In his book, The Resilience Project, Hugh describes an occasion where the students took him to their playground and proudly showed off their “two broken swings and a rusted see-saw”. Despite the underprivileged community, Hugh was blown away by the positive and grateful mindsets of all the students.

Hugh has worked with every NRL club, various AFL sides, every state cricket team and Netball Australia. He has also individually mentored a number of sporting stars, including Steve Smith, Dustin Martin and Billy Slater. His approach is unique, it’s engaging and it works.

“We are delighted to partner with Coordinare to bring The Resilience Project to the Southern Inland region. Hugh is so passionate about what he does, and his lived-experiences provide the cut-through needed to create those lasting ah-ha moments,” said Ms Wells.

“This isn’t your typical wellbeing webinar, Hugh has some fantastic stories and experiences to share, and some really simple strategies that anyone can implement immediately into their lives”.

This webinar is targeted at regional males, farmers, regional businesses or individuals interested in their mental wellbeing and happiness.
