Regional Development Australia (RDA) Southern Inland is pleased to announce Carisa Wells has been appointed to the role of Director of Regional Development.
Coming from a background in business management and strategic planning with experience across the retail, health and hospitality sectors, Carisa is looking forward to applying these skills to lead RDA Southern Inland to deliver economic growth outcomes for Southern Inland.
Being the daughter of a late Goulburn grazier she also understands the challenges regional Australia has to deal with.
When asked how she felt about being back in Goulburn, Carisa said she couldn’t be more excited. “It’s taken me over 20 years to realise how much the land runs through my blood. I am literally obsessed with this region. It’s home.”
Most recently, Carisa has been the General Manager of Southern Highlands Community Hospice in Bowral after relocating from Sydney. “The tree change we made has transformed our lives. Advocating the benefits of living and working in regional NSW is easy when I can be an example.”
Hugh Cooke, Chair of RDA Southern Inland believes Carisa’s strengths in networking and strategic development will bring an energetic and fresh approach to the vision being implemented in the current dynamic regional growth environment.
Carisa brings to RDA Southern Inland embedded business contacts. “Carisa is Vice Chair of Southern Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and also represents Health and Wellbeing on the Southern Highlands Key Stakeholders Group, which places her in an excellent position to connect further with important business communities in other parts of the Southern Inland region,” Hugh noted.
Hugh pointed out “Regional Australia in the past has missed out on the attention it deserves from Governments but is now in a space with a huge amount of infrastructure investment proposed with a focus back on the regional education and employment growth”.
RDA Southern Inland’s primary concern is to shine the light on some of these most important sectors of Australia’s economic development for the future. RDA Southern Inland continues to promote the importance of Agriculture and will host RDA Southern Inland Ag Day Dinner on Thursday November 14th with Guest Speaker cricket legend Glenn McGrath.
“We know Carisa has the government connections, skills, energy and enthusiasm to ensure RDA Southern Inland becomes a top RDA performer,” Hugh commented.
Carisa said “I’m excited to join RDA Southern Inland which already has a brilliant team in place and be in a position to work with great people to advocate for our beautiful region to help develop it for future generations.”
