Jobs Southern NSW & ACT (JobsSNA)

JobsSI Project - linking job seekers with employers

Building on the success of our Jobs Southern Inland (JobsSI) pilot program in 2023 under the Local Recovery Fund, we have been successful in securing the tender to extend this workforce development program until June 2025, under the new project name, Jobs Southern NSW and ACT (JobsSNA).

The program involves working with key local industry employers, and other employment pathway stakeholders to provide information session to find out details of local jobs, and learn about training opportunities, direct from the employers themselves.

Participants gain an awareness of the range of roles available and opportunities for work in specific industry areas and participate in short and engaging ‘top tips” sessions on the following topics:

  • Selling yourself to employers

  • How to make your resume stand out

  • Workplace requirements such as PPE and WHS

  • Career aspirations

All participants are invited to attend industry tours, direct with the employers, and are given the opportunity to engage in training opportunities relevant to the industry field.

This project is aimed at increasing awareness among participants of industry sectors that are experiencing workforce shortages to help those participants better understand the range of roles on offer, improving pathways to sustainable employment .

JobsSNA will be active in Goulburn, Yass Valley, Queanbeyan-Palerang, and Snowy Monaro and will provide an opportunity for participants from these regions to confidently engage with employers, and to then link the participants into jobs.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the range of roles available, career opportunities and hear directly from workers in different roles about the benefits of jobs in each industry area.

Throughout the activity, employers will be encouraged to link immediately with participants offering opportunities for work trials or interviews that provide a pathway to sustainable employment.

Testimonials from 2023 Program

I was privileged to represent Vacvator and be part of the Southern Inland information Session and share our knowledge and expertise & job vacancies with those who are seeking employment opportunities.

Your platform allowed us to reach a wider audience to advertise our business and employment opportunities.

I firmly believe that by working together, we can make a significant difference in uplifting individuals’ lives and helping them achieve their career goals.

Tahlia absolutely LOVED the tour. For her to hear about others journey’s within the industry and the opportunities that are out there was eye opening for her and has really motivated her to think about her future and how to start her own journey.

Learning about all the different avenues from the Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council tour had really planted that seed for Tahlia, and she was so fascinated to learn that so many opportunities and avenues can stem just from one position. However, after seeing Jye at Canberra Build and hearing about all of all the background work needed for each project -it had really sparked that light. Being able to hear his story and relate to his youth years is exactly what she needed. She is now PASSIONATE about where she wants to start. She is MOTIVATED to make those step in the right direction. She is ENGAGING in her education again because she knows this is something that can benefit the path she wishes to go down.

We need more of these! I cannot stress enough how fantastic these tours are. Often people lose that desire or interest in exploring the possible opportunities that are out there for them. However, It only takes just one person’s story to resinate and change that mindset. Going from “I don’t know what to do ” to “this is what I want to explore” is the switch we are wanting to see and encourage!
